The Preparatory Committee for the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States will hold its first session from Monday, 24 to Wednesday, 26 February 2014, at United Nations Headquarters in New York, to, among other items, elect the Bureau, pursuant to resolution 68/238 of 27 December 2013 (currently available in document A/68/438/Add.2).
Regional groups are invited to nominate two States each for the Bureau, pursuant to the said resolution. Nominations should be submitted, in writing, by each regional group to the secretariat (muturi@un.org) by Friday, 10 January 2014. A letter from the Secretary of the Preparatory Committee, dated on 27 December 2013, was sent to the Chairs of the Regional Groups.
